Abstract

This article analyzes the future prospects and challenges that stem from the EU’s future enlargement towards Turkey. It analyzes the impact of three important facctors: the “future of Europe” debate and the identity of Europe, problems of Europeanization in Turkey, and the Cyprus problem. It further deals with more recent factors such as Turkey’s operations in Northern Iraq and the Kurdish terrorist organization PKK and the constitutional crisis in Turkey
