The European Institute of Romania (EIR) is a public institution whose aim is to assist the public administration, the business environment and civil society in understanding and assuming the elements that Romania's accession to the European Union involves.
Striving to meet a widely-felt need for expertise in this field, EIR provides high-quality services to its target-groups: policy-makers and advisors, experts and practitioners in EU accession, the academic environment and civil society.
Following its three-fold mission, namely research, training in European Affairs and translating the acquis communautaire, EIR fulfils several tasks:
- Provides strategy and fine-policy tuning research in order to augment Romania's capacity of adjusting to its future EU membership duties;
- Organizes training sessions in EU Affairs for the public administration;
- Issues accession and pre-accession impact studies;
- Coordinates the translation of the acquis communautaire into Romanian, as well as of relevant Romanian legislation into working EU languages;
- Enhances the debate on Romania's future EU membership status.
