MASTER PROGRAMME “EUROPEAN UNION STUDIES”

The objective of this programme is to provide a high-quality master degree education on the policies and institutions of the European Union thus training specialists for both the public and private sectors.
Our Master-Programme is policy-oriented; it is based on an interdisciplinary approach, applying perspectives and methods of social sciences, economics, and law to the problems of European integration. The studies involve a comprehensive overview over the historical evolution and current problems of the European Union as well as the impact of Estonia’s EU accession on the economy, the political life and the social system of Estonia.
The Master-Programme consists of four semesters of teaching and research; it is concluded with the submission and the defence of a Master-thesis. Studies are running in the Estonian language with part of the lectures taking place in English. The Master-thesis can be presented either in Estonian or English. The lectures take place over a long weekend once a month in order to give workind specialists access to the study programme. Most courses are taught by faculty affiliated with the Faculties of Economics, Law and Social Sciences at the University of Tartu.

MASTER PROGRAMME “EUROPEAN UNION - RUSSIA STUDIES”

EuroCollege introduces a brand new Master-programme taught in the English language. It will commence in September 2008. The Master-studies programme runs over four semesters as daily education.
EU-Russian Studies is a unique multidisciplinary MA programme combining different disciplines such as political science, (comparative politics, international relations) economics, law, history, linguistics and cultural studies. The programme integrates not only different disciplines but it also binds together the study of two main regions in one coherent curriculum, giving a comprehensive understanding about the political, social and economic developments in the European Union and its member states as well as in Russia and its neighbouring countries in Eastern Europe and in the Caucasus Master-Programme “European Union – Russian Studies” hence focuses on the understanding of the development of and the relationship between the EU – being a political and an economic entity “sui generis” – and the Russian Federation, including Russia’s close neighbours to the West and to the South mostly aiming at accession to the European Union.

PROMETHEUS PROGRAM OF TRANSITION STUDIES

This programme focuses on transition processes and current developments in Central and Eastern Europe and Russia, combining the perspectives of Political Science, Economics and Legal Studies. The programme is offered every year during the autumn-winter term (September-January) and during the spring-summer term (February-June). The program offers a unique opportunity to explore transition issues in a country that has historically served as a gateway between the East and the West and has recently experienced a transition "miracle". In order to create a truly memorable transition experience, the program combines lectures, interactive seminars and individual coursework with study trips, other educational activities and social events.
