About the Speakers:

Professor Gráinne de Búrca

Professor de Burca is a distinguished Irish legal academic and
specialist in EU law. She is a current Professor of Law at Fordham Law
School and a former Professor of Law at the European University
Institute, Florence as well as a former Visiting Professor at Harvard
Law School. She has also co-authored the authoritative and definitive
English language text on EU law, "EU Law: Text, Cases and Materials".


Professor Brigid Laffan

Professor Brigid Laffan is the Principal of the College of Human
Sciences, University College Dublin. In 1991, Professor Laffan was
appointed as Jean Monnet Professor of European Politics in the
Department of Politics, UCD and was the founding director of the
Dublin European Institute UCD in 1999. Professor Laffan is author of
Integration and Co-operation in Europe, 1992, The Finances of the
Union, 1997 and co-author of Europe’s Experimental Union 2000.
