About the Speaker: Ray Nolan, one of Ireland’s most successful internet entrepreneurs, has been instrumental in the success of a number of companies in the Irish technology sector. Ray founded Raven Computing (later known as Coretime Ltd) in 1989. Coretime Ltd provided software solutions for the legal and hospitality sectors, as well as time and billing management efficiencies. Coretime Ltd was sold to Sage in 2004. In 1999, Ray Nolan founded the hugely successful online room reservation group Web Reservations International (Hostelworld.com). He developed Hostelworld into a leading brand for online travel accommodation with over 50,000 accommodation providers and offices in Sydney, Australia, San Mateo, California and Shanghai. Ray Nolan is currently Chairman of RevaHealth.com, a search engine for consumer health clinics. In 2008, he also founded worky.com, the recruitment social network site. He was the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the year in 2003, and was conferred with the Irish Internet Association (IIA) Net Visionary award in 2006. About the Event: In his presentation Ray will talk about business start-up culture in Ireland, as well as the various obstacles and opportunities for indigenous Irish companies in the current environment. He will outline the importance of lateral thinking between government and industry and how best to achieve global scale. He will also comment on the Irish Internet Growth Alliance – a recent collaboration between industry and government with which he has been heavily involved.
