Transatlantic Relations in Perspective: Roads to Deepened Cooperation

The current international context is characterised by uncertainty. On the economic front, the global financial and economic crisis has triggered a search for global economic governance structures and put the politics of trade back on the agenda. The US administration has initiated a new approach to foreign and security policy which has yet to deliver concrete results. In this changing global context, the transatlantic cooperation is facing serious challenges but also opportunities of renewal. This half-day conference will address these and related issues in the wake of the US-EU summit of November 2009. SIEPS has invited policy-makers and academics from both sides of the Atlantic to share their views and discuss the future of transatlantic cooperation.
