New Horizons: Finding a path away from NATO's de-solidarisation

What do practitioners and experts of transatlantic security think about the future of NATO?

From late 2008 to early 2009 HCSS organised online-based consultations on the future of NATO with more than 300 national policy planners, military officers, NATO and EU officials, representatives of industry, think tank experts and students from across the transatlantic community.

The results indicate that NATO confronts eight strategic dilemmas. The overarching necessity is for the Alliance to reconcile its traditional role with new challenges. As NATO celebrates its 60th anniversary, these dilemmas must be resolved.
