On 9th March 2009 The Madariaga-College of Europe Foundation hosted a roundtable concerning the prospects for restructuring the Ukrainian steel and machinery sector in the light of the consequences of the global financial crisis on international steel prices.

The debate focused on the foreseeable trend of the EU demand for Ukrainian steel and machinery, the prospects for the establishment of a trade regime between the EU and Ukraine, the options for restructuring the sector, and the outlook for EU support to it.
