Addressing the Resurgence of Sea Piracy: Legal, Political and Security Aspects

The resurgence of sea piracy has made headlines in recent months, becoming the object of intense debate, also among scholars and practitioners.

The paper, which illustrates the main results of an international conference held in Rome in June, discusses the definition of the phenomenon of piracy from a legal and political point of view, the position of the various stakeholders involved, and the international response. The last section advances a set of policy recommendations.
