Europe and the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) Program

This publication analyzes the participation of Italy and other European countries in the development and acquisition of the US F-35 Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) multirole aircraft. As this decision is bound to have strategic, operational, economic and industrial effects in the long-term, adequate knowledge of the consequences is required to inform the decision-making process at the political, military and industrial levels. The study identifies potential options for strengthening European co-operation in the JSF program, with a particular focus on the Italian case.
