In the framework of its European Seminars, ELIAMEP organized an international high-level conference entitled: “The Delphic Oracle on Europe: Politics and Policies“. The Conference took place in the context of a global economic slowdown and in the aftermath of the European elections 2009. It was a unique opportunity for leading academics, practitioners, think tankers and journalists to share their perspectives on the current situation in the European Union.
The seminar goals were as follows:
- a) to bring together a group of experts from all over Europe to present the latest developments in the EU,
- b) to facilitate rigorous discussions on the following issues: democracy issues in the EU, economic and social reforms at the European level, effectiveness of EU external action, environmental policy convergence in the EU and
- c) to share new ideas and thinking on policy approaches.
