Security & Defence Agenda (SDA - Belgium)

Partner type Think Tank
Location Belgium - Brussels
Website http://www.securitydefenceagenda.org/
Rating:

The Security & Defence Agenda (SDA) is the only Brussels-based security and defence think-tank for EU institutions, NATO, national government representatives, parliamentarians, industry, specialised and international media, think-tanks, academia and NGOs to gather regularly and discuss security and defence policies.

Defence and security have become top-of-the-agenda topics in Brussels after years of being widely overlooked. The SDA raises awareness by anticipating the political agenda and is now focusing policymakers' attention to the major challenges that will determine Europe's global security role.

The SDA’s activities span monthly roundtables, reports and discussion papers, international conferences and special press briefings and debates.

The Summer 2010 issue of Europe's World looks at a number of policy areas where that lesson must be borne firmly in mind by today's decisionmakers. The global economic recession has laid bare a range of issues that need to be addressed very promptly before they develop further and become difficulties of a very different magnitude. It has also accentuated long-term trends to which Europe has so far failed to respond.

We feel it's fair to say that few if any publications in the field of international relations and policy debate have grown as fast or widened their scope so remarkably as Europe's World. Our 120,000 readers worldwide are drawn from politics, government, business, the media, universities and NGOs.

IS THE WELFARE STATE
A LUXURY THAT EUROPEAN COUNTRIES CAN NO LONGER AFFORD?
